Elton John claims Jesus would back gay marriage, according to articles in the Daily Telegraph and Sky News 29 June 2014. In an interview with Sky News’ Dermot Murnaghan, homosexual advocate Elton John, who is in a civil partnership with another man, claimed gay clergy should be allowed to get married, and suggested that the celibacy vow for Catholic priests be abolished. He stated: “These are old and stupid things. If Jesus Christ was alive today, I cannot see him, as the Christian person that he was [sic] and the great person that he was, saying this could not happen”.

Editorial Comment: Elton John should read what Jesus actually said when He defined marriage. Jesus said: “at the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female’, and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’.” (Matthew 19:4-5) Jesus makes it very clear that marriage is between one man and one woman, and there is no room for anything else. Note also, Jesus is quoting from Genesis, making the point that this definition of marriage applies to the whole human race from the beginning, not just the culture of first century Israel. Since the Bible also is emphatic Jesus never changes, Sir Elton needs to get a real perspective. He may have been temporarily honoured by an earthly Queen, but he will be eternally dishonoured by the Universal King. (Ref. marriage, gender, sexuality)
